Sex And The City Themed Bachelorette

We were in NYC this past weekend celebrating a Sex And The City themed bachelorette for one of our good friends.  We dinned at restaurants our favorite four fictional ladies dinned, took a strip tease class, celebrated our bachelorette, and danced the night away.  The color palette for our NYC bachelorette party, aptly named "Neha And The City" was pink, white, and black.  We created goodie bags for all the girls that included: water bottles, nail files, shot glasses, hang-over helper kits, mints, and a "Neha And The City" tank.  We created a mini cocktail bar that included martini recipes such as the Carrie, the Miranda, the Charlotte, the Samantha, and renamed the Cosmopolitan to play on our bride-to-be's new last name.  Threw in Magnolia cupcakes, cookies, a boa, and of course the infamous yellow post it.   We also added SATC ambiance with Carrie's musings "I couldn't help but wonder..." and added a pin-the-lips on Mr. Big game.  We gifted our bride-to-be with the book, Love Letters of Great Men (from the first SATC movie), and had her soon to be husband write her the sweetest love letter that had everyone teary-eyed.  And since we were a diverse group of girls from Chicago, DC, and NYC we had our bachelorette write up a little blurb about each girl and put them together in a New York Star (the fictional newspaper Carrie wrote for), "Sex and the City" column and sent it out to the girls the week of the trip.

We decked out our bachelorette in traditional bachelorette style: a sash and huge ring.  We also added a mock Carrie Veil from the first movie.

We played the undie game, where each girl brought an undie for the bride to be, and placed it in one of the bags that most closely represents one for the four SATC leading ladies.  And the bride-to-be guessed who the undie was from.

On our last day in NYC we decided to have brunch at the Russian Tea Room, location of Alexandr and Carrie's first date.  We added quotes such as "He tasted like black cherries" and "Alright you gorgeous Russian, I'm off" that were representative of their romance at each place setting.  And we gifted our bride-to-be with the apron that Charlotte wore in the second movie, in a similar style box as when Alexandr gifted Carrie that pink Oscar de la Renta gown (from the episode, the Ick Factor).

The{little}Details Event: Bling & Bubbly Shower - Food & Pretty Paper

We are finishing our recap of the Bling & Bubbly Bridal Shower with one of my favorites, the food.  We had a large spread that included: mushroom & sage flat bread; Bree & pear flat bread; roasted eggplant hummus; mango and cilantro rice salad served in takeout boxes with blinged chopsticks; veggie crudites and dip; a fruit platter complete with pineapple flowers; pesto, roasted red peppers, and walnut pinwheels; cheese tortellini skewers with pesto sauce; and veggie cutlets.  Dessert included strawberry and champagne sorbet, Carmel corn, and butter cakes.

The invitation for the bridal shower incorporated our color palette of pale pinks and gold, with some added sparkle and embossed envelopes.  Upon arriving at the shower, guests received the "Push for Champagne and a Bridal Shower" signs from the door man as a reminder of the party's location, we created a He Says, She Says based upon stats about the bride and groom as well as Facebook statuses as one of the games, and we had a couple scattered water bottles with custom labels.

The{little}Details Event: Bling & Bubbly Bridal Shower - Decor

We are continuing this week's Bling & Bubbly bridal shower series today with the decor.  Our color palette was shades of pink and blush,  gold, and crystal accents.  We had a great space to work with and were able to take advantage of some great built ins.  The built ins held game prizes which were stemless champagne flutes from Pier1 in pink bags; favors for the guests: personalized mini champagne bottles with a sign that read "Thank you for popping by, please take one"; water bottles, a copy of the shower invite, and a Save Water, Drink Champagne sign.  We created large flower balls in gold and pink to enhance the color palette, and added a crystal garland that hung over the food table.  We also had guests RSVP with a picture of themselves and the bride-to-be that we used to create a giant "P", the bride-to-be's first initial, display.  And the bride-to-be sat in a chair with a gorgeous custom made wedding dress inspired chair cover.

The{little}Details Event: Bling & Bubbly Bridal Shower- the Bellini Bar

This week we'll be sharing the lovely details behind the Bling & Bubbly Bridal Shower we co-hosted.  Starting with the Bellini Bar.  The theme for the Bellini Bar was: Save Water, Drink Champagne.  Step one was choosing your fruit: we had strawberry and mango purees, as well as pomegranate and orange juices in mason jars.  Add condiments such as raspberries, blueberries, lemon sprigs, and mint to enhance the flavor.  Step two add your Brut, and step three enjoy!  And just in case, we also offered guests citrus and mint infused water. We dressed up the Bellini bar with mini apothecary jars full of old corks, blinged out stir sticks, coasters we embossed to match her invite, a Save Water and Drink Champagne sign, and of course some scattered crystals.  Each guest had her own personalized champagne flute waiting for her, and the bride-to-be had an extra special blinged out champagne flute.

Congrats You're Engaged

One of our best friends got engaged 2 weeks ago, and we threw her a mini 'Congrats on the Bling' party.  Here's the inspiration and the details behind our DIY event with the{little}details, enjoy!

Details:
This mini fete came together in all of a day, so we had to be a little resourceful.  The cake stand and wine chiller are from Crate & Barrel, the square glass jars and creamer container (used here as a flower pot) are from World Market.  We used strawberry malt balls to fill the square glass jars, and ring pops were attached to popsicle sticks, to give them height.  Her name was added to champagne flutes in pink glitter, and really popped with the champagne.  We stamped the tablecloth with a black damask stamp and a pink diamond stamp, with black and pink streamers added to the boarders.  And the cupcakes were from Sweet Mandy B's in Lincoln Park.

Tea for Two: The bridal shower

Our surprise tea themed bridal shower/happy hour co-hosted by the{little}details was a huge success, as we managed to keep it a surprise for the bride-to-be.  With tea themed details, as she loves her afternoon tea.  The bridal shower was hosted at Pegasus, in Greek town.  With its rooftop patio, Chicago skyline views, and delicious sangria it was the perfect place to shower our bride-to-be.
Decor:
The centerpieces were created using tin cans, yes the kind you get soup in, which were wrapped in burlap. We added some bright spring florals and centered them in a gold frame, accented with two doves. An old sugar pot was filled with pale pink spring roses and accented with the couples names in a frame. The garland was created using spring paper, a 2" circle punch, and this tutorial.  The 'He Says, She Says' game was a huge hit as we used the bride and groom's Facebook status.

Favors:
To keep with the 'Tea for 2' theme we created tea and cookie favors.  The bride-to-be loves PotBelly's chocolate chip cookies, so we Incorporated those into the favors.  Loose tea in Chamomile, Oooh long, PiƱa Colada, and African Roobios were packaged in blue favor bags.  The boxes were then wrapped in twine and gift tags, were stamped with the 'Tea for 2' theme and the couples initials were made to look like a tea bag tag.  The boxes, blue favor bags, tags. and 'K' initial cocktail napkins were all from Micheal's.
